An open-source Python toolkit for processing and analysing sign language video. Components include hand and body tracking, face analysis (expression, gaze, mouthing), phonological parameter extraction, and sign spotting, all built on the SignGPT visual backbone.

Co-created with Deaf advisors to support accessible communication about AI research and to establish agreed signs for emerging technical vocabulary.

Release: forthcomingThe SignGPT programme has a strong commitment to public engagement and to keeping the Deaf community at the centre of its work. This means going beyond passive consultation: Deaf advisors and community organisation partners are involved in research design, and our public engagement activities are co-created with Deaf presenters and communicators.
We run regular public events — including school visits, science fairs, and Deaf community open days — to explain the research and gather community input. All public-facing materials from the programme are produced bilingually in English and BSL. The AI Glossary and "What is AI?" explainer are examples of this bilingual-first approach.
